Crossing the Red ocean This account of the voyage of immigrants escaping the horrors and sobriety of northerly wars describes a physical journey. The biblical allusions to Lazarus, who had a second chance of lifespan and rose from the dead, and to the mark of the Red Sea, where the Israelite slaves escaped from their Egyptian masters, shows that in the immigrants minds they are existence given a second chanc e, a miracle.
